Seize the opportunity

Our mission is bold: to obsolete commercial petrol-powered equipment and redefine what’s possible in sustainability, productivity, and profitability.

Kress, and only Kress, has the potential to transform the industry in ways never seen before. As a Kress BDM, you are at the forefront of an industry revolution. This is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the game forever.

Understand the challenge

Don’t expect dealers and landscapers to welcome you with open arms.

They are accustomed to the noise and smell of internal combustion engines, and they believe that’s how it should be. Landscapers who have previously tried battery-powered equipment experienced disappointment due to the lack of power, inconvenience, and higher operating cost.

If you are lucky, they’ll look at you with skepticism.

Overcome resistance

To win dealers’ and landscapers’ reluctance to change, you must challenge the status quo.

Every objection is your chance to turn skepticism into confidence. Don’t worry about debating. You have the knowledge and tools to substantiate your claims.

In the end, they will thank you for it.

This course includes strategies that have consistently proven successful and will boost your deal-closing rates

Why dealers should enroll in Kress Commercial

Thanks to our transformative technology, we have re-invented the industry’s business model. Kress is the best business opportunity that ever happened to OPE dealerships.

  1. From single tools to entire fleets

Before Kress, dealers’ business cycled through fixing and eventually replacing worn-out tools. Kress changes everything, enlarging dealers’ business size threefold.

    3× boost in revenues

    See the math
  2. Reclaim petrol pump revenue

Before Kress, most of landscapers’ annual spending went to petrol, with only a fraction allocated to equipment purchases. Dealers can now tap into this substantial revenue stream by offering Kress energy storage solutions to landscapers.

  3. Increasing demand for greener landscaping

With state and city bans on petrol-powered outdoor equipment escalating, and heightened interest from businesses, facilities, municipalities, and homeowners, the demand for greener landscaping is set for massive growth.

The industry is inevitably moving towards battery-powered solutions, with or without Kress.

The shift has a negative impact on landscaping companies’ profitability—operating conventional battery systems is more costly than operating petrol-powered equipment.

Kress is the only brand that keeps landscaping business healthy in the battery era.

  4. Growing dealers’ profitability

The Kress Commercial program has the potential to substantially increase dealer margin. For every crew converted from petrol to Kress, dealers can achieve a 9-fold+ increase in margin.

Kress Partnership Program

Why KPP

As the transition to battery-powered equipment becomes inevitable, dealers face the loss of lucrative maintenance and repair services associated with petrol-powered tools. Additionally, the minimal servicing needs of electric tools will reduce landscapers’ reliance on dealers, increasing competition from big-box stores and online marketplaces, harming business size and profitability. KPP is Kress’s strategic initiative to safeguard dealers’ business and profitability, ensuring they remain integral to the landscaping industry’s future.

The Kress Partnership Program

(KPP) is designed to protect and enhance dealers’ margins by implementing several key strategies:

  • Consignment business model:

Kress owns the stock and sets a consistent price. This eliminates price deviations common with other brands, ensuring dealers always earn full commission and their margins are protected

  • Reduced financial burden:

Dealers do not need to invest capital in preseason stock. This reduces the financial burden, particularly important given high interest rates which can erode margins when dealers need to pay suppliers before selling the stock.

  • Optimized warehouse space:

The consignment model reduces the need for extensive warehouse space, lowering operational costs for dealers.

Key takeaways

  • The Kress Partnership Program ensures dealers are protected from price competition and financial strain by managing stock ownership, maintaining stable pricing, reducing capital requirements, and optimising storage needs.

  • This comprehensive approach supports dealers’ profitability and operational efficiency.

The top landscapers strategy

Kress is a game changer that demands in-depth understanding—we won’t leave our dealers alone in delivering this critical knowledge to landscapers.

The strategy focuses on engaging each dealers’ top three customers.

  • Priority targets:

    the three largest landscaping companies

  • Alternative targets:

if unable to engage the largest companies, focus on trendsetting or rapidly growing landscaping businesses known for their influence within the industry

Leveraging influencer marketing

Once leading landscaping businesses adopt Kress, their influence will spark a ripple effect, driving widespread adoption throughout the market.

The strategy focuses on engaging each dealers’ top three customers.

To maximise the impact of our early adopters, we’re launching a major digital marketing campaign, highlighting those who have switched to Kress.

Key takeaways

  • The new strategy is of engaging each dealer’s three top customers.

Dealers acquisition
Managing objections

The landscaping business is very traditional. It will take forever to change

Fair objection! In many industries, professionals are the latest adopters of new technologies. Landscaping is no exception.

When the first chainsaws became available back in the 40s, lumberjacks rejected the idea of using anything different from crosscut saws and axes, skills honed over generations. Despite the clear advantages over manual sawing, it took decades for the chainsaw to become the standard.

Another classic example is snow cleanup. For a long time, landscapers have relied on melting snow with salt—a very inefficient method compared to snow removal.

Workers are not always moved by efficiency. If a task keeps them busy, they’re fine with it.

The good news is the demand for greener landscaping is already there.

Hundreds of cities around the world have banned noisy, polluting outdoor power equipment. Everywhere else, criteria for public tenders are following the same direction. Facility managers and even homeowners are demanding greener solutions as well.

This is the clear trend, and it won’t reverse.

Until now, landscapers have been reluctant to change because of the drawbacks of available battery systems. With Kress Commercial, there are no more excuses.

Even better, once workers learn that two-stroke engines are slowly killing them, they will demand for Kress Commercial.

With Kress Commercial, landscaping companies can save their lives, elevate their business with zero financial risk, and watch their profits grow.

Let’s keep the momentum as we move to our next topic: Landscapers Acquisition

Landscapers acquisition

Why your job doesn’t stop with dealer acquisition

Don’t rely on dealers: we must engage the most influential landscapers ourselves.

The challenge

Professionals are those who resist changes that alter their established methods and routines.

Landscapers won’t transition to battery-powered equipment simply due to climate change concern or fighting noise in residential areas—even worse, all commercial landscapers who have tried competitors’ batteries have had disappointing experiences: lack of power and higher operating costs compared to fossil fuels.

Why landscapers should act now

To drive this change, we need to make landscapers aware of their priorities: increasing demand for greener landscaping, health of workers, cost effectiveness, and performance.

The hidden hazard of commercial landscaping

Fresh air, open skies… Most landscapers consider themselves lucky to work outdoors, surrounded by nature. However, there’s a hidden danger that threatens their health.

Every day, while operating equipment powered by two-stroke engines, landscapers unknowingly expose themselves to harmful emissions, excessive noise, and constant vibrations.

These hazards slowly but surely take a toll, shortening their lives.

Air pollution kills

PM 2.5
253,000
NO2
52,000
O3
22,000

In the European Union, air pollution is linked to about 327,000 premature deaths per year. This includes:

  • 253,000 due to exposure to fine particulate matter (PM 2.5)

  • 52,000 attributable to nitrogen dioxide (NO2)

  • 22,000 from short-term exposure to ground-level ozone (O3)

Source: European Environmental Agency

Small engines are big polluters

Two-stroke engines combine fuel and oil for lubrication, leading to higher emissions than four-stroke engines:

  • Higher emissions of particulate matter (PM): the burning of oil produces more particulate matter, which penetrates deep into the lungs and is the first cause of mortality from air pollution.

  • Incomplete combustion: oil is burned along with petrol, leading to the release of unburned hydrocarbons.

  • Higher emissions of volatile organic compounds and carbon monoxide: these contribute to ground-level ozone formation that is harmful to human health.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), two-stroke engines emit 25-30% of their fuel as unburned oil and petrol directly into the air, significantly higher than four-stroke engines.

Two-stroke engines are known to emit five times more PM 2.5 than four-stroke counterpart—PM 2.5 accounts for 77% of premature deaths caused by air pollution.

A study from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) indicates that using a commercial leaf blower for one hour can emit as much pollution as driving a car for over 1,000 miles, primarily due to the two-stroke engine design.

The deadly toll of two-stroke engines

So what? 327,000 premature deaths out of 450 million people is nothing to be worried about?

The reality is stark: no professional category is more exposed to hazardous emissions than commercial landscapers.

Every day, they inhale particulate matter equivalent to what an automobile emits in thousands miles.

Let’s put it simply: professional landscapers are shortening their lives by continuing to use 2-stroke engines.

Small engines are big shakers

Regular use of outdoor power equipment can lead to Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), which is preventable but irreversible once damage occurs.

Source: Health and Safety Executive

Understanding vibration sources in engines

Internal combustion engines (ICEs) generate high vibration levels due to:

  • Reciprocating Motion: ICEs rely on the up-and-down motion of pistons, which inherently creates high vibration.

  • Combustion Process: The internal combustion process in ICEs involves rapid expansion of gases. Each combustion event creates a burst of energy that causes mechanical vibrations throughout the engine and its components.

Conversely, electric motors produce rotational motion directly, without the need for converting reciprocating motion. This results in smoother operation with significantly lower vibration.

Health consequences of prolonged exposure to vibration

Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome
(HAVS). Symptoms include:

  • Tingling and numbness in the fingers, which can disturb sleep. Loss of sensation in the fingers, making it difficult to feel things.

  • Loss of strength in the hands, affecting the ability to grip or hold objects.

  • Fingers turn white and then red, becoming painful in cold or wet conditions.

Musculoskeletal Disorders:damage to muscles, joints, and bones, causing pain and loss of function.

Circulatory Problems:damage of blood vessels, reducing blood flow and leading to vascular disorders.

Nerve Damage:damage of nerves, resulting in a loss of sensation and dexterity.

Small engines are big noise hazards

Operating outdoor power equipment exposes users to high levels of noise, which can lead to hearing loss and other health issues. Prolonged exposure to loud noise is harmful and can result in permanent damage.

Source: Health and Safety Executive

Understanding noise generation in engines

Small engines generate high noise levels due to several factors:

  1. The rapid combustion of fuel and air creates explosive forces that produce loud sounds.

  2. Moving parts like pistons and gears generate noise through friction and impact.

  3. The release of exhaust gases creates significant noise, especially if not properly muffled.

  4. High vibration levels can contribute to additional noise as the engine and surrounding components vibrate.

Health consequences of prolonged exposure to loud noise

Noise-Induced Hearing Damage (NIHL).

  • Permanent hearing loss. Cells in the inner ear do not regenerate once damaged. Hearing aids or surgery cannot reverse the damage.

  • Tinnitus, a persistent ringing or buzzing in the ears, which can significantly impact quality of life.

Physical health effects:

  • Stress and anxiety: The body’s reaction to loud noise includes the release of stress hormones.

  • Cardiovascular problems: high blood pressure and increased risk of heart disease.

Key takeaways

  • Landscapers are daily exposed to an abnormal amount of particulate matter, which accounts for 77% of premature deaths caused by air pollution.

  • Landscapers face serious health risks from harmful emissions, excessive noise, and constant vibrations, which lead to long-term health issues, ultimately affecting their quality of life and longevity.

Managing objections

Workers are familiar with petrol tools, hard to convince them to switch to battery tools

The transition to battery-powered equipment is not a question of if, but when. This shift is happening across the industry, with or without Kress. Resisting change won’t stop it.

While landscapers may need to adjust their habits, this change will greatly benefit their health. Adopting Kress’s battery-powered solutions will also be advantageous for their business.

Battery runtime is too short for the blower and brush cutter

New for 2024 we have introduced the CyberTank Lite powered by the 1.5kWh CyberCapsule.

In addition to recharging the 240Wh batteries 5 times it can also be used on the tools directly to deliver longer lasting power and performance when needed.

Stihl and Husqvarna have better ergonomics

Maybe, however: who would trade slightly better ergonomics for the only viable solution to eliminate the risk of premature death from exhaust fumes?

We are constantly taking feedback to improve and evolve the range and have added over 20 new products in 2024 alone with a road map for more new and enhanced products to come.

We already have some battery-powered tools, so we are saving money

Landscaping companies can only save money by switching to Kress. Other DC solutions are more expensive to be operated than petrol.

Kress ultra-fast charge on the go and extended battery warranties mean way less batteries versus the legacy players.

The upfront cost is too high

We have a wide range of options to give landscapers the flexibility to choose the right one for the business.

We have finance, lease and now rental options for the CyberTank ensuring that there is a cost-efficient solution to match any business needs
